 Bishop Lafayette Boyd, Ph.D.

Dr. Lafayette Boyd, Th. D., is the Pastor of True Word Apostolic Church and Suffragan Bishop of Region  6 (Belize) of Southern California District Council, 67th Episcopal District of thePentecostal Assemblies of the World.

36 years ago, Dr. Lafayette and Lady Ernese Boyd received salvation according to Acts 2:38 under the pastorate of the Honorable Bishop Howard A. Swancy at Peace Apostolic Church in the city of Inglewood CA. Brother and Sister Boyd relocated to San Bernardino ,CA with their four children - Lafayette Jr., Aloma, Trevor and Amalia due to the rising cost to raise a family in the Los Angeles area. After faithfully enduring a 150 mile roundtrip commute to church for some time and 10 years of membership at Peace Apostolic Church, Bishop Swancy charged Brother and Sister Boyd to be a help to their new pastor and church home. Bro. Boyd was directed to Bethlehem Temple Community Church of Rialto where the Pastor was The Honorable Bishop Michael J. Garrett. Brother and Sister Boyd would excel under Bishop Garrett’s leadership and ministry. Bro. Boyd embraced his call to the ministry while Sis. Boyd embraced the call of  working the Altar. Minister and Lady Boyd continued under the mentorship of Bishop Garrett for 15 years serving faithfully in whatever areas requested by their pastor.

Min. Boyd  was later elevated to an ordained Elder and completed his Doctorate Degree in theology. Under the mentorship of Bishop Garrett, Dr. Boyd went forth on missionary journeys, preaching the gospel in Belize, Mexico and Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Lord’s grace continued  to rest on Dr. Boyd and Lady Ernese as he moved toward the calling of the pastorate. With the support his pastor and family, Pastor Boyd held the first Sunday morning service of True Word Apostolic Church on February 1, 2009.

Dr. Boyd continues to give 100 percent to whatever he finds  his hands to do.  Dr. Boyd and Lady Ernese’s passion for missions continues to be  a  large part of the ministry placed upon them. Through much hard work and God’s favor, Pastor Boyd was  elevated to the office of  Bishop the Belize District Council, 72nd Episcopal District Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.

Bishop Boyd and Elect Lady Ernese are the proud parents of four children and nineteen grandchildren. To God be the glory for the things he has done!
